Competing with a Florida Car Restoration Firm, Bruce Springsteen’s Drummer Fights for His 1957 Mercedes-Benz Roadster – Fox Business

Max Weinberg, Bruce Springsteen’s Drummer, Suing Automotive Group for Stealing $125,000

Have you heard? Max Weinberg, renowned drummer for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, is suing a Florida automotive repair company for the alleged theft of $125,000.

The Details Behind the Lawsuit

Investment Automotive Group (IAG) is the subject of a lawsuit filed earlier this week by Max Weinberg. According to Weinberg, the company falsely promised to restore a 1957 Mercedes-Benz roadster “to like-new condition”. Weinberg made a down payment of $125,000 on the final price of $225,000, yet he never received the vehicle.

Weinberg Claims Money Used for Personal Expenses

Weinberg’s lawsuit alleges that IAG kept the money and used it for personal expenses instead of restoring the vehicle. The statement from Weinberg’s attorney mentions that IAG thought they “could pull the wool over the eyes of someone who is pretty well-known and wealthy, but Max wasn’t just going to sit down and take it.” Moreover, law enforcement found that the vehicle subject to restoration had several major issues prior to the transaction.

What Really Happened to the Money?

IAG denies Weinberg’s accusations, claiming to have used the down payment for the cost of car parts and labor. Despite an investigation from Detective Scott Schaefer, no criminal charges have yet been filed against IAG or its owners. Detective Schaefer’s report alleges that Siegle used little to no funds from Weinberg’s down payment to work on restoring the vehicle, instead opting to pay off credit card debts and make deposits to personal accounts.

Conclusion

Max Weinberg is taking a stand against IAG and its owners for allegedly stealing $125,000 instead of delivering on their promise to restore a 1957 Mercedes-Benz roadster. No criminal charges have been filed currently and the future is uncertain for both the vintage car and Weinberg’s lawsuit.
